£3000 rebuild?
Discussion
Seems rather expensive to me. Needs new bonnet, probably a complete respray, and while it is stripped down you might as well get the chassis sandblasted and powder coated/painted. When you have done that everything else will look wrong unless you refurbish or replace, Before you know it you will be spending much more than the car will be worth,IMHO. If you want to do it as a labour of love fine, if not buy one that somebody else has spent the money on.
I did the same with a TR6 years ago and never got my money back.
Mind you if you can get it for a lot less maybe!!!!!!!!

Why not just offer him what you think that it's worth, even if that is less than £1500! If you don't think that it's worth that much then maybe nobody else does either. Sad story and comment about galvanising the chassis and thus risking distortion doesn't inspire confidence about the rest of the work. www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=42862&s=4 How about £6K finished less 1/3 no MoT/tales of the unexpected, less £2K no paint, less up to £1K repairs to bonnet and chassis, less £500 service = £500-£1K. Cheap car as long as you can put it back together for free. Hmmm
