Hello does anyone know what rear callipers and handbrake cable was used on the V8s?
If so are there any recommend reasonably priced suppliers?

Thanks

Calipers are Ford Sierra. Not sure about the hand brake cable but may have been Sierra as well. Someone will be along shortly to confirm.

Calipers, as Joe says, are from some of the higher performance Sierra's or you may find someone who has fitted the larger vented discs and calipers on a Griff/Chim selling some?
handbrake cable is basically also from the Sierra but TVR had them shortenned, available from TVR Parts I think?

Search on here, loads of posts on converting an S from drum brakes to discs

One to get you started........ disc conversion

Handbrake cable can be got from Caterham Cars - the DeDion version - cheaper than Racetech.

Calipers are Sierra. Same caliper for all solid discs - hub carrier positions it to the size of disc. Different caliper (wider 'jaws') for all vented discs, again the hub carrier positions it to the size of disc.

Pads are the same for all.

I don't know what Caterham charge for a handbrake cable but if you can get a standard Sierra one cheap enough (Ebay ?) this is another option......

bolt on handbrake cable end

I made one but time (and having the facilities) against money 15 quid ain't that bad scratchchin

Less than the cost of two ends and a standard cable. I've ignored postage costs as well as labour to modify.

We should mention Mike's mod to the caliper to ease the fitting of the cable. A slit in the hole that the cable passes through. Very helpful.

Thanks all,
Amazing amount of useful info. Had some brake binding after sitting in the garage and not making any noise for far to long!. Hopefully freed off enough for an MOT tomorrow but looking to replace cable and possibly the calipers if needed.

Does the Caterham handbrake cable fit directly or need shortening?

This looks to be the best price I can find for Sierra calipers. Are they the right ones for solid discs on the v8s?

I believe it is the right length and direct fit - Caterham is a small car, town is bigger though biggrin

Alan found it whilst he restored his S2.
