Evening all

Just had a complete engine and gearbox rebuild on my S3 and when on the rolling road the technician commented on the HT leads probably being past their best. They are original Ford Motorcraft ones and seem to have a suppressor at the coil end of the lead.

What are others using? What is the chance of getting a brand new set of what is on there?

Cheers

Andy

When I had the Tasmin this guy made a set for me afitchett@hotmail.com He has an eBay shop but I can'r remember the name of it. The leads were very good and a reasonable price.

Dizzy cap end? Dump them and, if still fitted, the tin can thing around the top of the dizzy.

Ford used two different caps, one type had male SAE connections (like a spark plug) the other used the more conventional female DIN fitting. If you have the later you could do a lot worse than a set of Bosch leads

Yeah, sorry, I meant dizzy cap end!

My dizzy cap has females which the suppressors (if that is what they are called!) push into

Yep, it’s still got the tin can thing too

One less bit of clutter under the bonnet and 0 - 60 time improved by about 3 seconds wink

Both the tin can and the dizzy cap suppressors are a fault liability. Arcing/tracking when damp etc. Get rid of both. Decent replacement leads with be suppression type, so you don't need anything else.

I'm needing new HT leads too... Following the link in the earlier reply you get a listing for these Bosch leads:
0 986 356 879 BOSCH IGNITION CABLE SET LEADS KIT I NEW OE REPLACEMENT

Are these correct for a 2.9i S3?

Yes, he says confidently!
