My seatbelt retractors are playing up, it is very difficult to pull the belt out from the reel without it locking every few cm and they need encouragement to retract.

So I am looking at new belts from Securon. They list the 500/30 for TVR S series which has the 300mm buckle stalk. However I find the buckle is too long at the moment so I am thinking of fitting the 500/15 type with the shorter 150mm buckles.

Has anyone fitted 500/15 belts on an s2? Is the shorter buckle length ok?

Thanks
Pete

I've used a pair of nearly new, modern VW van seat belts with Punto stalks and the setup is great. No snagging at all and they cost under £30 for the lot.

Hi...
I have just bought a pair of Securon 500/15, to change the belt colour, plus the belt cill metal plate on both sides had pretty well corroded through !!
I won't be fitting them for months yet (full resto).
But this is what they will look like against the transmission tunnel.
The gap from the latch to the bottom of the console is approx 3"
So I'm hoping that is just about peaking over the seat cushion.
The Securon belts do come with a few metal brackets being as they are sold as universal items. Oh, my car is an S3.

Are you tall or vertically challenged, slim or carrying a few extra pounds?

Seat well back or forward could be a decider? Unless you have the seat right back as far as it will go I think the 15's will be too short unless you improvise a little extension bracket?

As Bergerac said, the Punto stalks are somewhere inbetween, a perfect length wink

Another option, driving naked ir presumeably optional?

Hi Mike...
From the trader I bought my Securon belts from, the option of longer buckle straps changes the buckle assembly from a flat metal plate fixing, to a springy cable, or belt webbing. Neither of which can be easily shortened.
However the short 150mm option being as it is a flat metal plate, can be extended easily. In fact I did previously mention that the kit of parts does include various metal adaptor brackets.
In my case, the seat will be closer to the back bulkhead, and i will adapt the buckle fixing arrangement on the day smile
As always, many thanks for your (humorous) comments.
TerryB.

I use the 500/15 with the seat right back. I have found that the belts can be a pig on anything but level ground if the reel is not vertical.

Thanks for the advice. I tend to have the seat position almost fully back hence thinking of fitting the shorter buckles. It looks like one of my belts has been replaced before to a securon 500/30, but both recoils units are playing up so I plan to replace both.

Sure it's not just the belt dragging against the carpet?

One solution..... brackets
