This was attached to the fuel pump. Maybe able to clean up (looks horrendous in this piccy!) as still works however wondered if they can still be sourced as dont really fancy putting it back on?

apologies if this was discussed at some point, may have read something however cant find it anymore

I don't recognise that. Is it one of those lucky rabbit's foot fuel magnetiser things? All you need between the pump and the engine is a fuel filter.

All it appears to do is change the direction of the fuel

So you could replace it with a copper bend if you want - or a hose.

ETA: I wonder whether it was a non-return valve. They aren't fitted as standard, but it's not impossible that somebody added one.

Or maybe a fuel damper? some cars have them to smooth fuel pump action..

Not essential.. imho.

Damper, that rings a bell with something ive seen on here somewhere.

I have the same part on my 92 S3C. If I were you, I would blast it, epoxy paint, and keep it in place.
