Hi..
Being as you have fitted AVO shocks all round, it maybe worth reading this thread in full.
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I bought my S3 with avo's on the front, on inspection I also found that those red bushes were also shot !

On seeing your photos showing the rear shock/springs. That top bolt appears to be long with a deep nylocknut. This could catch the body when you're doing its refit. The nut doesn't have to be that deep as its job is purely to hold the bolt in place. I used narrow nuts with star washers. I can get at it, if required slightly easier now.

Also.. As I've just done a thread asking for spring free lengths to be recorded.
If you know the rating AND the free length of your new springs (f&r) that would be great to get recorded on the suspension wiki.

Good luck with the build.
TerryB.

Thanks for the info I bought these shocks about 15 years ago because the original ones where shot and they've never been used so I will look into changing the bushes while it's easy and again thanks for telling me about the nut I never thought of that problem I only fitted what came with the kit I'm not a mechanic so any advice is welcome cheers
