Currently got the diff out whilst refurbishing back end, any recommendations for paint? I've scrubbed it down, had degreaser / engine cleaner on it, carefully jetwashed and looks a lot better however there is still 30 years of grime and whatever ingrained into the nooks and crannies. If i say prime and paint with Rustoleum or a high temp paint will this inevitably come off? Has anyone painted one recently?

It's not a high temperature application, is it? I'd have thought any paint designed for engine blocks would be OK.

Myself used Rejel zinc primer or Carboxide followed by Rustbusters 2 pack epoxy chassis paint excellent results. See photos

With a little "de-coke" rotary wire brush to get in all the nooks and crannies? Laborious but...........

Did mine, it must be eight years or so ago, with some paint we bought "in the trade" but very similar to Rustoleum and it's still looking reasonable.

Gratuious picture, doesn't prove a lot, was taken back in 2013!

I like the ARB. I was probably asleep when you showed us that previously.

How could you sleep through this masterpiece... biggrin

A year or two later I made some sturdier brackets between the chassis and anti-roll bar U clamps but despite someones concerns, the drop link attachments to the suspension arms show no signs of flexing or distortion after all these years and a few thousand miles smile

I tried aluminium paint on a classic Mini gearbox and clutch housing. It's good looking but not sturdy with time and dirt. Epoxy paint is a much lasting solution.
