Hi All,
Just got my car back from a successful MOT and service and one of the plates that the bonnet hinge mount to has rusted through.
I didn't get a good look at it as it was late in the day but seem to remember that the plate reinforces a wooden frame?
Does anyone know whether these are available or whether it's a fabrication job?

Many thanks in advance

This is a replacement hinge using a spherical joint as the pivot but principal is the same. The metal plate, near the letter B, is bolted through the big plywood web, which is bonded to the bonnet. Usually with a matching plate the other side of the plywood to spread the load.

Some ruffian has just used penny washers in this picture .............

Whatever it is you need I think it's a make it yourself job wink

ETA quite a few owners have gone for a "wide open" hinge conversion so there should be plenty of original hinges around if you need one.

Thanks Phillpot, that's a great picture, the second one.
I guess 4 plates, 1 for each side of the wooden bits to spread the load.
I had seen the pictures of the wide open mod but I'm not so bothered about that as what's still attached works ok.
I'm a bit annoyed that I opened the bonnet to admire the freshly painted rocker covers only for one side of the bonnet to fall off! Hey ho these things happen.
