Hi TVR S restorers, can anyone assist please ??? After following some really good discussions on how to rebuild my wiper wheel boxes I unfortunatly forgot how the wheel boxes were fitted in relation to the drive tube (Due to considerable time period between dismantle and rebuild !!) I know that the wheel boxes are different sizes so have figured that out from the discussion, regarding the position of the drive tube does it go on the bulkhead side or the dashboard side of the spindles ? I found a diagram in one of the books which showed it looking like it went in front of the spindles, but this meant quite an angle between the motor and the drive tube, so I tried it the other way with the tube nearer the dashboard, this gave better alignment with the motor but brought the tube tight up against the back of the heater box !
Can anyone confirm which way round they go or send some photos to show the position ?
Note to self - take more photos next time before dismantling !!!

Hi Alan, many thanks for your prompt response and assistance, it has been a long project and am looking forward to using the car this year !!! Have you done much else to the car ? Mine started out as replacement of a damaged cooling fan and ended up with new radiator, cooling hoses, water pump, clutch, timing chain, engine painted, new slave cylinder and master cylinder, caliper pistons and seals, fuel tank shot blast & painted and sealed, new fuel pipes, seats repaired, wiring tidied up, wiper system cleaned and repainted, new ball joints and track rod ends. Interior soundproof. It was pretty good when I started but I just wanted to make it better. Where are you based, I am in the north east ?

Just re fitted the wiper and boxes, changed the park switch, the park switch is made for the landrover, I did a few pictures just incase anybody is thinking of changing one.

If you have never done one before take some pictures before stripping down First thing to remove is the gear retainer, small pointed pick will easy do this but take care as it might just across the room, there is also a washer under the clip.

Remove the gear box cover , just screws. and tap the gear out (comes out with ease) once the gear is out you can see the retaining spring clip that holds the park switch.

don't forget you need to take a picture of the wires connected to this of make a note, when re fitting you need to just start the spring retaining clip just in the slot, insert the switch and push home with a small screwdriver.

there is a spring washer on the shaft, make sure it's still there when you refit the gear.

Once you have fitted the gear you need to fit the retaining clip, you need to push down on the gear against the spring washer to do this, if you fit the cover first you will need to remove it to fit the retainer.

Make sure you have the end screw in the right way flat to the top. the degree is 130, stamped on the gear.

You may want to replace the 5 pin plug if yours looks a bit crap or corroded.

Other pictures after testing.

Just make sure you fit the motor back with the rubber backing (you can get from the Mini dealers) if you don't have one. If the motor is not in the right place it will foul the glove box, I had a old dash I could test with.

There is no need to remove the gear to replace the park switch, I have never had a problem doing the job this way

I appreciate that the motor may need turning to gain access to the switch

I did think you were very likely servicing the motor, thought I best post the vid as it may save someone a bit of time
