It's been a long, long journey...with lots of frown ... cry ... mad ... furious ... smash and confused along the way, but I have to say I have a certain amount of satisfaction in saying...

The S is back on the road!!!!!!

All work complete (full body off, chassis refurb & loads of new/replaced bits, pipes & pieces all round, including new clutch) MOT finally passed!! (at the 3rd attempt....the list of stuff I'd got wrong was long!!), and ready to commence some ‘shake down' mileage to be all set up for the S Club Euro Trip 2019 biggrin

To those whose advice I took and help I accepted along the way...many, many thanks to you all thumbupclap

See you out on the road...with a BIG SMILE on my face biggrindrivingbiggrin

Have you considered bringing it to Burghley (Stamford, Lincs, just of the A1), for the TVRCC Spring Show, this Sunday?
Starts at 10.00
Then your adoring fan base can join in your delight with the car......assuming it actually makes it the 100 or so miles from God's Own County.

A couple of pictures for you - sorry for the delay...been out for the first few miles...unfortunately it's not great news, when I slow down using the clutch or if I change up gear to0 quick there is a lot of 'banging' from under the floor - I suspect something to do with the propshaft as there is no movement from the gear stick to suggest it's the gearbox/clutch..any suggestions? If I'm careful with the gear change and use the brakes to slow the car when coming to a junction then all is good.

Great to be out driving it again though...just got to sort the niggles smile And give everything a good clean cool

Cheers

Diff mounts are new (poly bushes)...I think i may need to do a thorough nut & bolt tightening check at the weekend smile

One thing getting through the MOT quite another getting the drivability correct again smile

I'm sure no ones total rebuild is perfect "straight out the box", they'll always be a niggle or two to sort smile

That looks lovely !! You should be very proud.
Regarding the vibrations you have , I had similar and found I had fitted the wrong gearbox mount , it should be the Cortina one Burton stock NOT the type 9 Sierra one.
I replaced mine ...no more vibrations or juddering .
Might be worth looking at . Hope this may help.

Hi jaye , the gearbox mount I used from Burton was p/n GBRK400 , it's ford part number is
72HF-6068-AA , when I fitted the type 9 Sierra mount it was very tricky getting it in requiring the box to be jacked up quite high in the transmission tunnel.
The Cortina one slipped in with very little effort .
Stopped the juddering instantly .
I did have a thread running on here a while back with some pictures showing the different mounts .

Well done Jaye, I have only met you once in 2011 at the Weston Park S Club (where you sold me some lucky raffle tickets!) but have followed your occasional posts relating to your rebuild wondering when you might complete it. I know it is hard to find time to complete these body off's so congratulations on getting finished.

I'm sure you'll soon iron out the inevitable little niggles. thumbup
