Propshaft sliding joint

First post and all!

I have been rebuilding my S3 and while doing so have fitted an LSD, I am slightly concerned though as when i connected up the propshaft the sliding joint at the gearbox end seems to be sticking out the box more than I would expect. Does anyone know (or can anyone measure) how much of the "shiny" bit of the joint should be sticking out the back?

I reckon that's where the back of the oil seal has been running?

thank you, my prop doesnt have a mark on it, but im going to guess from that picture its about an inch?
