Sometimes these cars really try your patience. S has been SORN since November and I have completed the usual list of winter jobs. Got all excited as the weather forecast for today was sunny all day so yesterday I started the car and pulled it out of the garage to give it a wash, ready for the first drive of 2019. Went to put it back in the garage last night and the immobiliser won't disarm. I put the little fob in the slot and....nothing. Maybe this is the S3's idea of an April fool.

Now I must admit that once last year it did the same but worked a few minutes later. It worked fine for the rest of the year so I kind of convinced myself that I must have done something stupid and that the immobiliser was fine. Clearly, that was a warning I should have acted upon.

I disconnected the battery last night and now when I reconnect it the immobiliser buzzer just sounds constantly. Normally when one reconnects the battery the immobiliser used to beep twice and then armed itself. So I am assuming the problem is the immobiliser itself rather than the key.

Before I dive into the wiring birds nest and rip the thing out does anyone happen to have had a similar issue and know a way of resetting the immobiliser?

It's a Cobra 0802T which I think was pretty much standard fit for lot's of TVRs of our era.

Thanks in advance..Ralph

Also, meant to ask, does anyone have the originally installation manual, I have the user manual but not the installers version.

Powering it off in the alarmed state might have upset it.

I've had problems caused by the inductive pickup for the key fob shifting slightly so it went from marginally working to marginally not working. I've also had problems with corrosion in dry joints used to splice the alarm into the loom. You'll need to take the cowling off the column to investigate.

ETA I also had a bunch of broken wires in the loom to the sounder which caused intermittent problems.

If your alarm wiring is anything like mine was, it's never going to be reliable.
