I had one of those annoying emails from my insurance company yesterday, turns out it was quite informative!
It mentioned driving abroad after the Brexit fiasco. Applying for a green card was one and the other was an international driving permit, this one i'd never heard of.
Long storey short, after some reading I decided to apply just in case I need it. Despite reading stories of a 5/6 week application time it turns out that all you need to do is turn up at your main post office, take with you a passport photo and your picture driving license (those that still hold a paper license will need their passport) The application will be dealt with at the counter, the permit will cost £5.50 for 3 years, unless your current license expires sooner, then the permit will also expire.
