Had this happen a month back, in traffic, on a slight gradient partially holding car a little in the clutch, car was hot, and had been a little thrashed !
The strange thing is it’s not happened since and have done some big trips since , anybody know what caused it , and hopefully a one off ?

Normally a less-than-perfect surface on the flywheel (i.e., a bit shiney). Can be exacerbated by a worn gearbox mount (if it does it more in reverse, it's usually that).

Solution is new clutch, and machine-facing the flywheel. Or live with it....

My S3 started with a little clutch judder couple years ago but slowly got worse over time. Very strange as it would have the judder only when the car was properly warmed up or hot in traffic. No clutch slip pulling off so very strange and annoying. Thought I'd get lucky and changed the gearbox mounts and I also had worn diff mounts at the time but no.... engine out job and changed the clutch.

Found this.....One of the springs on the clutch broken so when got hot wouldn't expand and made the contact with flywheel uneven so juddered.
