In fairness, very likely the rarest of the breed, too. (y)

How cool is this.

It looks like a RV8
is this a one off engine developed just for this car way back when?
Supercharger
2.0 I’ve never heard of such a thing, can anyone elaborate on how this creation came about.

60 big ones, utterly stunning yet those rusty looking Plenum bolts, Wouldn’t take five minutes to sort those out.
Fully restored I assume after being laid up all its life?
My German isn’t to good, you’d need to own the transport company behind to afford the bugger but I like that a lot. thumbup

Yes it's a RV8 engine.
I believe they were made for the Italian market because of punitive taxation rates for large capacity engines. Sure someone on here will know all about them and enlighten us.

I understand they made 4 of them for the Italian markets as above. If I remember correctly, that engine size and shape was the reason for the bonnet shape. However like all things, that may be myth smile

Is it stroked down to that capacity? I got the idea from somewhere that it was. If so, it ought to be a real screamer.

The TVR 2-litre V8S was a 2-litre supercharged version of the V8S - this was created for the Italian market in response to their import taxation based on engine capacity. The engine was a modified 3.5 litre Rover V8 fitted with a smaller-throw crank to reduce the engine capacity, retaining the 88.9 mm bore but with a short stroke of 40.25 mm. This meant a displacement of 1,998 cc (2.0 L), with a compression rate of 8.0:1. Lucas electronic fuel injection was fitted, along with an intercooled Eaton supercharger. All of this produced 233 PS (171 kW; 230 bhp) at 6,200 rpm and 266 N⋅m (196 lb⋅ft) at 3,700 rpm. Performance was on par with the bigger V8s, with a top speed of 232 km/h (144 mph) and 0–100 km/h (62 mph) coming up in 6.5 seconds.

Amazing TVR went to so much trouble just for 4 cars, custom crank & plenums & 14CUX remap etc, or is that the same plenum and supercharger on the 350SX & 400SX wedges?

It would be very interesting to see a RoverGauge screen shot of its 14CUX.

They probably did not realise that it would be a sales disaster when they developed this engine and were hoping for a reasonable level of sales, probably as the result of an over optimistic importer.

Another instance of rarity, hence desirability, being the result of appalling product planning.

It is a neat installation. I'm disappointed in hindsight that they didn't offer a supercharged option on any of the bigger engines.

Tony, I wonder how things would've turned out if you had worked for TVR instead of JLR?! hehe

This did work in our favour though - the idea behind the first S Club Eurotour I suggested in 2010 was to visit one of these cars in Italy but the owner went quiet shortly before the trip so we didn't meet up. The rest, as they say, is history...

Sorry for my slow response.
Ahhh, yes like the Ferrari 308 that was then being offered as a 208 with a 2.0 V8 and yes to avoid a heavy tax hike on larger engined cars. I have a friend who owns the 208 and it was imported from Italy.

Do you have the original or only a PDF? Seeing how expensive the car is the original folder has surely got to worth a reasonable amount as well.
