Hi all,
Looking at buying a 1990 S2, sat in it yesterday, the first S I have ever sat in, I’m 6ft and with the seat as far back as it would go there was plenty of room to in the footwell to have my legs fully stretched. Problem was the clutch and brake I couldn’t get my foot on without my knee / leg completely getting in the way of the steering wheel, to the extent that I would need to be a contortionist to drive it, if I had to brake quickly there is no way I would be able to, I could just about change gear but very uncomfortable. Strangely the throttle pedal wasn’t too bad. Has anyone ever come across this issue? I wondered if perhaps the pedals have been adapted at all, couldn’t see any sign of this but would be interested to hear other S owners opinions, thanks.

There were optional short and long pedal boxes. It sounds like your car was ordered with a short one. I'm 6'2 and had no trouble in my S2. The company owner at the time was a similar height so all cars of that era are designed with tall drivers in mind.
I haven't compared the different pedal boxes to see how easy it would be to adapt. Perhaps you could go to your local TVRCC meeting and compare it with others.

So is it possible if I can source a long pedal box to be able to swap fairly easily do you know?
I've never seen them side by side so no idea what the difference is or how easy it would be to swap. Mine suited me so I didn't pay any attention to it. I can't imagine there is a huge difference between them. I suspect your best bet would be to sit in a car with a long pedal box and confirm it suits you, see what the difference is compared to yours and get somebody to modify yours. If you wait a couple of days you will probably find responses from others in this section more familiar with the pedal box options.
First job I reckon would be to try and confirm if the car does have a pedal box for people with little legs, how tall is the vendor?
Whereabouts are you located Martin, shouldn't be too hard to find an S owner within reasonable distance who'd let you sit in their car?
I never quite got to six foot, I'm about 5 foot 11 but have seen plenty of guys taller than me driving S's.

The guy who is selling it is shorter, I had no idea there were different pedal configurations so I’m further forward than I was a few hours ago. As has been said there are taller guys than me that drive a “S” so it’s more about how I go about changing the pedals on the one I want to buy.
Assuming they are the "wrong" pedals I have a spare (standard?) pedal box available for sale
Not having seen them it may be as easy to chop/modify the pedals that are in the car?
ETA. .. just a thought, has it got the standard steering wheel? One or two people have fitted larger wheels to help with heavy steering
