Ferry ramps OK?

Going to take the S over to France for a couple of days in mid May, really looking forward to it!

Only slight concern is the ramps to get on and off the ferries...don't fancy trying to get my SS exhaust
re-sorted by a fella once in Boulogne!

Anyone able to reassure me?

Tim,
Get the crew to guide you on and approach the ramp at an angle, putting one of the front wheels on first.

If you are still unhappy, they should have some timber to smooth out the 'valley' between the ship's ramp and the linkspan. At Portsmouth, during the Le Mans week, P&O and Brittany have mats etc. for all the exotics travelling over for the race

Failing that, wait for high tide!

Well when I picked up my S2 (outside Luton) and my V8s the following year (Bournemouth), Each time I drove to Stranraer and boarded the ferry back to NI, I had no problems. Altho the S2 was more of a worry, it touched very slighty coming off again, the V8s was fine.

Dunno about the ferries to France tho.

I'd think they'd be no worse than the speed ramps you drove over at my place (they are pretty severe aren't they).

Sounds like a fun outing, be nice to go for a blast on those nice snooker table smooth roads

Just ask to go on the lower deck.

Went to Le Mans from Portsmouth last year and they put down planks, still had to be very gentle though. If you have a passenger with you I would suggest you ask them to step out for a mo as this should give you that little bit extra clearance. You don't always get the choice which deck your on, but if you do choose the bottom.

when we went to le mans last year had to lift the car over the ridge no one bothered to help ,suppose it depends on the operators

Sounds like my worries might be justified :sctatchchin:

Plenty of air in the tyres,mimimum luggage(fat chance!)spanners, and bottom deck then!
I just know there will be an impatient plonker in a huge 4X4 behind me smirking from ear to ear!
Wait till we get to the other side!
