Put engine and box on the bay on Friday

Box sold and the chap will take the engine if not sold.

BUT he wants them next Saturday laughsmash

Then it will be off with the body and any chassis mods carried out.

The Jag (manual gearbox) with only 85k miles (owner had it 9 years) was purchased in Glasgow last week and driven 175 miles home

Hope to have it on the road before next summer rolleyes

Flippin' eck Mick, that all sounds
pretty hectic!

Good luck with the conversion of the conversion! wobble

I'm sure Damian can give you a few pointers if you need them. Or the other Jag convert ( is it Blue S3? )
Eta: TerryB, Blue 30
Sorry you already know that. And apologies to Terry ( it's an age thing you know whistle )

Jag eh?
You'll have to watch out for The Sweeney on your tail in their Ford 2.9 3.0 Essex V6 normally aspirated Consul / 2.8i V6 Cologne V6 Granada!

Edited for accuracy.

*** Anorak Alert ***

For the majority of the series Regan and Carter sped around in a Consul 3.0 GT (Essex V6), wasn't until some of the last episodes that a Mk2 Granada appeared which would, i think, have been a 2.9i?

Nah, the Mk2 Grannies had the cologne 2.8 in them - I’ve had two - one was just like this one. It was the Mk3 (the one that looked like a bigger sierra) that had the 2.9

It brought out the best pedantiatric ones anyway laugh

All the best with that Mick, you are going to be busy but you like a challenge. As I said before, keep it looking as standard as you can, more fun when you can surprise people!! Hope it can be made to sound as good as the Cossie did. It sounded really good from behind, couldn't always see it for the smoke but I knew where it was!!!

I don't intend changing the bodywork - it does not look 'standard' as is.

Engine and box to be removed on Saturday then body off and do some chassis strengthening

So its a Jag alloy V6 into an TVR S ?

Just that i saw Jag V6 in Mazda 5 yesterday at Tatton Park show, had a good chat with the owner, builder was "rocketeer" who made a bespoke carbon fibe 6 branch inlet manifold, lovely bit of engineering.

Yep Rocketeer make a number of parts to fit the AJ30 into the MX5 including a bespoke ECU. I have emailed them but no answer yet (suppose I better ring them

no space yet at my mates garage to do the engine/box transfer, hopefully by the end of Jan.

I have plenty of non motoring jobs to do in the mean time

I know the none motoring jobs do mount up. Back on the car full time, bit of a cock up closing the bonnet but sorted out now, just the big hole in the bonnet to fill in with a new bulge. Will pop up when you are in the workshop.

back end up high enough but can't raise the front as I now need to obtain strops to attach to the chain hoist.

Initial inspection of the chassis and looks like there is no rust. The denso tape doing a great job.

the Denso tape adhered yo the paint and pulled it or yes could have been the paint not bonding to the base white coating. At least it is not down to the metal. I will be scraping at all suspect areas and re-coating the whole chassis again.
