Starting problem sorted - now for the oil leak
Discussion
Took 10 mins once I put my proper head on and looked at the wiring diagram and the back of the modified fuse box.
Wiring connection for the relay feed to the starter solenoid was very loose to the point of falling off with myself for not checking earlier. Strange that the symptoms until this weekend were only non starting while very hot and the engine fans running.
Now to find out where the oil leak is - after I've finished my cup of tea
onwards and upwards.

it looks like the near side cam cover oil return to sump which is below the manifold and directly above the starter motor. Started car and a good stream of oil pouring off the starter Now. taken exhaust and starter off but cant see a leak, taken the down hose and sump connector off and checked - no holes and hose is good (But will renew) of course cant start it to check exact location of leak with no starter.
Progress with your delinquent S! Sorry it didn't get you round Wales. It was easy to follow you, you were marking your trail as you went along!!!
Not many people on here will be able to help you with Cosworth oil leaks!
Good luck Mick but you will have to face the bullet some time and sort the Cossie or change it.

One of the cylinder head drain hoses sounds likely, what else is there that could suddenly start to leak real bad unless it has an oil cooler or remote filter?
Hi Mikeno oil cooler and the (non remote) oil filter is on the other side of the engine
I took the exhaust off and the starter motor so I could see what is in that area - only the cam carrier drain to sump, so took that of and inspected/cleaned it. No defects and so fitted new gasket and refitted everything. Started the car and still leaking at same rate.
So next is to borrow an endoscope / borescope to see what is happening with the engine running
Oil leak located
pin hole in the steel braided flex hose to the oil pressure gauge, yes mine has a mechanical gauge
hole in the small unseen section above the starter motor and below the nearside exhaust manifold.
Confirmed by connecting the system up on the garage floor. The good pressure managed to squirt the leak a couple of metres and coat my generator.
