Cracked sump baffle

Would I be right in saying this is the standard sump from a 2.8 granada?
If I can’t replace it I’m sure it could be repaired.

Assuming the photo as posted is your sump pan, then this is from a very late 2.8. As it clearly shows the upstanding studs each side of the sump flange bolt holes. Yours should be fitted with the rubber gasket, rather than the earlier cork type.
I would clean, reinforce, then braze the baffle, to make good.

Thanks Terry I hadn’t thought about getting it brazed, it’s covered almost 100k so if that’s all I find I’ll be quite happy.
Ideally I’d like to replace it with the Cosworth engine but just repairing the chassis has turned into an almost full mechanical rebuild.

I'm just wondering what be likely to cause a sump baffle to crack like that?

I suppose a flaw in the material could have caused it to fail, it’s not supported in the middle which seems like a poor design.

I know exactly what you mean about doing a full rebuild !
I went into my S3 full resto, plus engine/drive train swop (Jag V6) with my eyes wide open, but its still a challenge on occasions, sometimes resulting in a bit of head banging against the garage wall. But as its a 'in the blood' hobby, I'll get there...eventually (for the umpteenth time).
