OK so while going to open the boot on my S2 today the red plastic lever positioned under the steering column snapped off. This left the cable end (T shaped) exposed, which still operates, but I need to pull it with a pair of pliers. Does anyone know if you can buy a replacement plastic lever or some alternative to release the boot?

Thanks

It's originally from the Ford Sierra.

You could try Sierras'R'Us. or other Ford breakers.

Or you could make your own cunning secret boot release using a manual choke cable mounted through one side of the rear bulkhead behind the seats above the parcel shelf.

Could you replace it with THIS? or do as Glen suggests using one of THESE? Ignore the "Land Rover" tag, it a generic part you can probably pick up from your local motor factors or kit-car on line shop.

Don't normally see an S2 with a manual boot release!

Might be worth trying a Ford dealer. We still used to sell loads of them when I worked in one about 10 years ago, even for old cars like mk3 Fiesta.

Yeah mine is more of the S1.5. 2.9 engine but manual windows etc. The lever is a red plastic number that sits under the steering column. Haven’t seen anything similar on Ford spares sites yet.

Oh I see!

Have a look for mk1 Ka levers. I have a feeling they were the same (though don't quote me as it's been a while).

If you take the lever off, there should be a part number on it.
