Hi Chaps.
This fairing,perspex cowl project...

Got my fairings from Podie,my plastic cowls and a couple of suggestions for types of perspex etc.

But...

before I start drilling holes in my bonnet to test fit, does anyone have an old 'S' or mini headlamp unit I could have/borrow/beg so I can mock up further off the car???

I don't want to use the only fairings we have and muck something up as we might want to get others made from these moulds if other owners want sets made.

Can anyone help with a headlamp please ?

Wildfire is possibly a good fella to help here since he's also mini mad!

Chris also often visits Kent to see his parents ....which is handy.

Chris, are you there mate, can you help Tim?

Any good Classic Mini supplier:

Crystal Halogens available from www.minitrailers.co.uk

Check out minispares, minisport, minishop, Somerford Mini Spares, Minispeed. All sell what you need.

Crystal Halogens are not E marked so technically you can be pulled or fail an MOT for them, but I had no problem with them on the S or any of my Minis. The Wipac Quatdoptic conversion are the nicest, very good light and they are rounded off rather than being squared on the edge.

I have a few old sealed beam units around but the not the plastic bowls as some minis used a different system.

try www.s-v-c.co.uk. I got a set of the Wipac ones delivered in two days, complete with chrome rings. Can't remember the chaps name but he is very helpful.

ps. Nick, depending on what Chris can find and how quickly you replace yours, can I reserve your old ones for now?

£50 per piece!! Wow that's expensive!! I got my Wipac ones for my mini for £19.99 at a mini show, and the Crystal ones for £40 or so.

Not sure about Canterbury yet Tim, I kinda promised my little brother he could come with me to the next Mid-Essex meet and he's quite keen.

Fiting ring could be difficult, I have a sneaky feeling I threw the rusty ones out at Xmas, but I'll have a look. I'll be down Kent/Ashford way on Sunday though.

All parts are identical to a classic min, chrome the lot. Except that they are halogens rather than sealed beam.

See what you have got Chris, the ring too would be dead useful.

Otherwise could meet you in Ashford or M20 services,Junct 8, near Maidstone this Saturday if you can oblidge?

Originally the fairings belonged to ummmmm...... can't remember then they came to me, then to Podie and now to Tim.

Unfortunately Tim, i'll be heading down to the South West coast on Saturday. I'll be going via Ashford ish on Sunday.

I'll have to ckck what I've got. All the mini parts are above my father's garage, getting up there means moving 4 cars around. I'll see what I can come up with tonight.

Guilty, i had them commisioned for my first S3. Were made by a friend Keith Pulham of Latchingdon who at the time was doing a lot of fibreglass work for the firm i worked for. He is no longer in the fibreglass game and gave me the moulds, which i threw away.

If others are going to be interested in these things I am going to have to get new moulds made!
Still...thats in the future maybe.

Gareth is a top man, he is going to post me one of his old headlamps and surrounds.
