Mick and I were busy yesterday, checking out the venues and meeting the MG Club organisers of the Bywell show, agreeing on the location our TVR plot, which will be adjacent to the Sporting Dream Rides Sporting Bearpit .
The Bywell grounds are spacious and well kept, with a nice flat grassy surface and no nasty speed humps to interfere with our underparts.
There will be an autotest track laid out in a separate paddock at the opposite.end from our patch, which promises to be interesting to watch ( or even take part in if you're keen ), but they are unsure whether the dogging display will take place. Never mind, there will be plenty of other attractions and displays going on, plus trade stands and food stalls, live music, so plenty to do and see.
After this, we called in at Bobby Shafto's to have a look round and view our Event Field camping area, check out the amenities and chat with the charming Melanie, who will be serving us beer in the on-site Clubhouse. and white wine for the ladies of course ).
Then we made an impromptu visit to Beamish Museum, parked our two 'S's near the main entrance and were immediately collared by a policeman from 1920 who asked if we needed any assistance. He escorted us to an admin. office where, handcuffs removed, we discussed a few salient points with Ms. Shona Hendricks, our helpful liaison officer.
We have requested authorisation to use one of the top level car parks as a rendezvous point for the start of our Friday Run, meeting from 09:00 for a 10:00 prompt departure. Hopefully this permission will be forthcoming next week.
Finally we made our way to the Black Horse ( which is close to the Aston Works where they refurbish Astons and other classic cars ) for a bite to eat and a refreshing beverage, before heading for home.
So you can see, whilst a load of you lot are gallivanting around
Monaco, remember some of us back home are doing some serious graft:
