New Fuel from Esso?

Any fuel experts out there?

I have been using Shell optimax for a while now, as that seems to be the best fuel by general consensus of opinon.

However, I was in a Esso garage over the weekend, and they have a new one called 'Supreme' Is this a new high octane fuel? or merely a type of chicken dish?

Asked the girl at the till, and she had no idea what octane level it was, must have been mental fatigue due to excess Heat maganzine!

I thought it was just a rebranding of Esso Super Unleaded?

Don't they still have to put octane rating on pump somewhere (usually in small writing next to EN rating)?
I would also suspect it is a rebranding as that seems to be the current trend with fuel retailers - i.e confuse everyone so no-one knows what we should be comparing their 'new' fuel with!

Just looked at Esso's website, and I think you are right. Says it is rated at 97, I think Optimax is 98?? Is it OK to use in an S2?

Personally I have used 95 RON in an S with no ill effects. The engine is basically a Granada engine after all.

I use generally use 95 RON in my Griff, but put a tank of optimax in every now and then. But then I have a lowered compresssion ratio.

I would agree with Wildfire, I have used Optimax, std Shell 95, Esso 95, Supermarket std but always return to BP 95 RON and occasionally the BP 98RON as it seems to me that the car runs much better on BP fuel than any other. I think with the mileage Chris put on his S then he has quite a lot of experience with fuel usage
