Afternoon all.

Not car related but just wanted to share in my favorite car forum.

He's 13 and has just raised £1,500 (and still raising!) with his best school friend for Sports Relief.
Started at 10am Friday at school until 10am Saturday at home, they completed a 24hr Rubik's Cube Challenge.
They stayed up the whole time solving various different types of cubes (over 6,000 solves!)
and logged all the times on 2 laptops.
Their best time for a classic 3x3 was 8 seconds.

I know the youth get a bad press these days, so it's nice to share a positive story.
I'm so proud of my boy and his fund raising.

All the best,
Mark (my boy, James on the left in photo, Jude on the right. Both looking rather fresh after 24hrs!)

Good work lads (I'd have expected more coffee cups given that time scale!). Personally, it would've taken me 24 hours to solve 1 cube. If at all... loser

Very well done!! You are right to be proud.

(I have never managed to solve a Rubik cube even once.)

That is very kind & impressive plus solving the Rubik in 8 seconds, back in the day I could only manage it in one minute. It makes a nice change to hear your son and friend are helping others when most teenagers today don't want to get their hands dirty, not even for themselves. They will go far in life !!!

Maybe they could give me a hand with my collection.

Sorry to hijack your thread but I'm also a proud father,

Here's my boy last year when he was only 19.

Many thanks for all your kind comments guys, watching your son /daughter develop in life is one of life's joys.

Would be great if anyone could spare a pound, and put pistonheads, TVR or S club in the comments.
Really appreciate it.
And if any of you can share it anywhere online / social media i'd really appreciate it.
They have passed their headmaster in the rankings (he's 4th) are don't want him overtaking them again!!

Stevessprint ........ James said you have a great collection and asks if you can solve them!
I live in hope James will help me hand the spanners one day, like we all used to do for our fathers!

Well done lads!

Word of warning - get this shared elsewhere, quick. PH will likely pull this thread, as they've pulled quite a few charity ones in recent years.

James
Thanks for your very thoughtful picture, you have a very impressive collection.

I notice you have a void cube and it's the only one not solved but with your abilities I’m sure you can solve it and quicker than me, I also have one which I can solve with my normal 3x3 routines but sometimes have to cheat with this little extra routine I found on the internet.

M U M Ui Mi Ui Mi U2 M Ui (M = Middle Top move Forward)

I’ve never solved the 5 x 5 cube but I have seen solutions on the internet and over the years I kept warning the kids never to mess it up, I’m saving it for a retirement challenge to keep my brain active. Life is so much easier these days with Google, back in the 80’s I use to buy books on the Rubiks cube.

Please let me know if the TVR Ss return to the Uxbridge Auto Show this year and if you and your Dad join them as it would be good to meet up so you can teach an old dog new tricks like your speedy short cut routines.

Keep up the challenge & helping others.

Hi Steve,

This year we are holding our S Club Heaven weekend extravaganza from 29th June to 1st July 2018 at Beamish & Bywell* in Northumbria for the sake of geographical diversity, to give more northerly owners a chance, but there is nothing to stop any S owners from attending the excellent Uxbridge Auto Show a couple of weeks later on Sunday 15th July.

Solved!
I'm not sure what that algorithm is used for. Is it for 3x3, Void cube, or 5x5? If im able to understand I may even be able to give you a better algorithm!

All the best, James.
