Hi all,

after reading the posts about steering UJ replacement I contacted Car Builder Solutions to order top and bottom UJs

From a previous post, the top UJ is here:

https://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/steering-un...

But they have asked me if the bottom UJ has splines at both ends. I'm working away at the moment and can't get to inspect the car. Can anyone tell me what the bottom UJ configuration is or post apic'?

Many thanks,

Steve

Be wary, as they do vary. Some stock ones for a left hand drive and try to sell it without pointing that out! I should know as i had to return it..... was a merchant that i wouldnt have expected it from too.

Please can you make sure you tell them you got the contact from the TVR club, we have built up contact with them and they have helped source parts. Also mention it is an S type and the clearance on the joint is tight, they did address this issue for us when some suppliers were providing joints which were so thick they wouldn't clear on the tight angles on the S column.
Also I strongly suggest you ask them for a high tensile bolt to go with it. We have found that some joints need quite a lot of load to tighten properly especially if the joint has been a little loose on the splines, and some joints from some suppliers have not been provided with high tensile bolts.

If you haven't got a catalogue already, ask for one. They seem to add more goodies nearly every month!!

When you install them, don't forget they need to be "in-phase".

I learnt about this the hard way! wink

For information the bottom UJ on the V8S is different - the end at the rack has a much longer extension.
