Unidentified lead hanging by engine S3c

I've never noticed an oil pressure warning light. The gauge works ok. Should there be a warning light in the main warning light cluster ?
If there should be one, any idea where the sender is that might take this "spare lead" ?
The only issue I have is a big flat spot when the engine is cold, I thought the lead might be from a temp sensor that connects to the ECU... ??

I think so. There's one on my V8S (it's the MIL light).The Horse said:

Somewhere around the oil filter/oil pump I think. One of the V6 owners will probably have a picture for you.The Horse said:

My (1990) S3C has no oil pressure light in the panel, and no wiring to one.
I've fitted a dual (gauge/light) sender and wired up to the (also unconnected) MIL light, but haven't tested it yet.
I had two 'mystery' connectors to the right rear of the engine; one turned out to be the brake fluid level warning, the other is still a mystery but I'm assuming for now that it's the power steering pump wiring to the ECU.
Yours is in the wrong place to be an engine sensor: you should have an air temp sensor (ACT) on the right of the plenum chamber (behind all the injector wiring).
Best to be guided by 'what's not working?'

This is a better photo of the lead which isn't connected to anything.
It's a brown with red trace and brown with a blue (?) trace.
It's taped up with the wires to the ignition module (?) that's fixed to the bulkhead in the photo.
If anyone can tell me where it might need to go I'd be grateful.

From the colours and looking at the engine wiring diagram for the S2/3 it could be the "octane adjust" plug, if it is then shorting it should advance the timing slightly. The idea being that you could take a car set up for running on proper petrol, disconnect that and run it on what passes for petrol in some other parts of the world.
If that's what it is and the car works fine as is then I'd leave it alone It would be connected to pins 23 and 24 on the ECU.
