Melting fuel pump relay.

Has anyone else had problems with fuel pump relay (big pink fuse in passenger side footwell - can you tell I'm not particularly technical) melting?

My S1 seems to use one of these every 1000miles or so.

Could be a loose contact causing resistive heating, or an intermittant glitch on the control side causing the relay to flutter, or you are using the wrong relay rating, or the fuel pump or circuit are intermittantly developing a short circuit, or something else, ...

a tired fuel pump can draw enough current to do that, the pink engine run sensor(relay) is a bit weak in that respect.
you may be able to revive it.
the solder joint may have cracked on the circuit board in the relay.
poor connection = high resistance = high current draw = heat.
reflow or resolder it.

rac replaced mine with a black lucas part.
