Striving for Sweeter Running

I have posted a few threads about problems with lumpy running and received some excellent advice.
I replaced (with new parts)the distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs the other day and fitted some refurbished HT leads. This made a usefull improvement.
However, following advice given by two PH'rs I have now replaced the HT leads with a new set from the local Ford dealers. The difference is very noticeable in a number of ways.
The engine runs better, revs much easier and to higher limits. The leads look good as well, red cabling with black rubber mouldings at each end.
The HT lead sets are standard to Ford and listed as replacements for both the Sierra & Granada 2.9litre engines.

The next step is to follow Johno's (Mark) advice and get the car set up on a rolling road.

I enjoy doing most jobs on the car myself. Even though money is not an issue, I would be disappointed to pay someone for a job I could easily do for myself.
I believe there is an intermittent signal error to the engine management system from somewhere, as sometimes the car runs great and other times she sounds strained and rough? (mid revs under hard acceleration)
I have been working through the car over the last several months checking out most things, cleaning and/or replacing as necessary. However, I believe that I have reached the point where a thorough check by someone with the right equipment would pay dividends.
I could pay someone to simply check electronically using the diagnostics/tuning features of the EMU, or pay a bit more and have the engine dynamically tested on a rolling road. The latter is likely to cost £150 - £200 depending upon the amount of time involved.

I go back to my own case where I had an engine running problem and was at the point where I loathed getting in the thing.
Proper fault code reader said no faults and the only way we solved it was to put it on a rolling road. Which found 3 minor problems that when combined caused the problem. 2 of these we could only find when it was under load.
You know me, I do an awful lot of work to my own car but I cannot reocmmend highly enough giving your car over to a get tuner and letting find the problem. The resulting hike in performance is a real bonus aswell.
