Mileage trip recorder.

Without first removing the instrument, can any one tell me if the trip recorder on the speedometer dial is mechanical or electrically operated? The rev. counter doesn't work either - could the two be connected fault wise? - fuses appear OK.

It is electronically driven from the speedo sensor but is an electro-mechanical unit internally. Usually best thing is to send to someone like Speedy Cables for repair.

Thanks,I much appreciate your reply.
Being a new TVR owner and only having bought the S some weeks ago, I'm not familiar with where people are ie Speedy Cables.
If I do have to take both instruments out this will of course make the car unusable whereas I can still drive it as it is. (I don't want to miss the current good weather) I could I suppose send the instruments away later in the year if that's necessary. Alternativly if the "repairers" are not too far away I could take the car to them and wait if thats sensible. I'm in Devon.

They used to be in London but I think they have moved. Do a search in the archive or on www.yell.co.uk. Normally pretty quick turn around.
