This is the rubber gaiter on my car. It might be original, it might not.

It is marked as follows:-

At one end; "Front Diesel 2.5Ltr"
Other end; "Front 1.8 TC Diesel" & "Front Pertol"
Underneath; C9E5A

I've had a Google but can't find anything to match up. Does anyone know what make/model of car came in 2.5 diesel, 1.8 TC diesel and petrol variants?

You can tell what the weather has been like when a post like this goes up.

Could be, but I wonder what vehicle TVR sourced it from originally?

The markings imply it was designed for a vehicle which came as either 2.5Ltr diesel, 1.8 TC Diesel or petrol, which would seem to exclude the Land Rover vehicles.

Might be different with the V8 gearbox but on my V6 I've tried one or two gaiters (good luck with finding a Ford one!) and ones like you've linked to tend to "bunch up" and create issues selecting reverse or fifth.

If yours is not too badly split/perished try repairing with rubber from a bicycle inner tube and appropriate glue scratchchin

Only one small split at the moment, although I'm not sure the inner tube patch would work because the split is in one of the folds. You're right though about the "bellows" type ones though, they don't flex enough to allow full movement of the lever.

This one might be worth a try. Cheap enough to try cutting off the top two or three sections.

Good find, hens teeth a new one. Joe's car is a V8 not a V6 though - different gearbox. Gaiter mayhave been the same or not.

I'd be surprised if TVR bothered to source a different gaiter for the V8. I drew a blank at the Ford dealer so if anyone finds a Sierra one could they post up a photo before fitting please? Look for the number C9E5A on the underside and maybe the other letting to confirm. If there was a 2.5TD Scorpio then my money is on this being a Ford part.

I bought one of THESE to see if ot could be adapted. In the end I used it on the Tasmin for a while and it fitted quite well. There's enough rubber around the bottom to allow quite a bit of trimming. And it's cheap! thumbup

They fitted them to all TVRs from the Wedge onwards then smile

Perhaps I should get a couple for the T cars!
