Hi all

A quick question. How is the handbrake cable attached to the handbrake mechanism? It looks like a pin of some kind with a retaining clip.

Apologies if that sounds lazy, but I've just broken my thumb (sympathy vote!) midway through my brake upgrade, and was considering trying to fit the new cable one handed as the routing looks quite easy...!

I've had a look through my pics - do these help ?

A bit here on the left

Hope this helps. Note split pin straightened ready for removal.
This is V8S but I don't think the lever & cable arrangement here will differ.

Same as my S3 metal pin with split pin to secure

Chris - off topic but just wondered if you might know the answer to this one. Do you know where the cable from the gearbox speedo sensor goes into the main loom? I can see it disappearing up the right-hand side of the bell housing but can't work out where it goes from there.

Good luck doing that with one hand.... it's a fiddle with two, unless you are stripped down to a bare chassis !

Proper name is Clevis pin and a spring pin makes a neater job (and easier to get back out if needed) than a split pin wink

I think it goes through a grommet under the radio or in the region of there.

Thanks Chris thumbup When I replace the transponder unit I was thinking of running the wires up through the gear lever hole and under the centre console, so if that's where it goes then that would be dead handy.

IIRC it pokes through a hole in the gearbox cover by your left knee. 3 pin plug with red connector.
Around this area....

Hello,
This topic is quite old but I hope you can help me.
I'm looking for the part within the green box (sorry,I don't know its name) which connect the handbrake axle to the cable.
So, if someone knows the name and/or where I can find it, I will be very happy.
Thanks a lot

I suspect that's a bespoke TVR part and long obsolete? Might be worth trying the TVR breakers?

These guys have some bodywork but no mention of any chassis parts, could be sold but worth asking?

TVR bits on Ebay

As an aside, funny how some people value parts, £500 for the bonnet clam seems reasonable to me , they do get broken whistle but £395 for a door, Who's ever needed a door?

Just a matter of finding something with the correct size spline and modifying it a bit scratchchin

Maybe a Kickstart lever

I was thinking along the same lines...
Type... Pit bike gear lever... Into eBay.
Plenty of possible options there.

As another aside - I still have an S3 etc (longer) door in primer that is surplus to requirements. PM me if you want it FREE and can collect it from near to Beaulieu Hampshire. Either that or on December 3rd it goes to the tip, now that would be a shame................
