Insurance(again) and Tachometer
Discussion
Having just read through the archives there must be an awful lot of under 30 year olds that have successfully had insurance from Mannings who all must have pre driven 3 litre cars - strange.(but good luck)
However, having now got my S2 and had the chance of close scrutiny in my own surroundings a few things need attention, I'm sure they are simple and hope all you wise ones can help.(1)the Tachometer doesn't work, all wires seem to be attached, its stuck on 2000rpm - terminal? does it need replacing?(2) no boot strut - mechanical type as illustrated in the Bible p256, what part is this?(3) Insulation under bonnet sags, is the way to follow the Bible instructions ie-epoxy it back on, or 3M tape it?

John,
The tacho sits at 200RPM on most cars when the engine isn't running - Gravity is the cause, it's just a S "feature"
Have you checked all your fuses?, also going on the Bibles wiring diags, have you put a voltmeter across all the wiring to test for breaks etc?
I's worth trying this first.
Cheers,
Dave.

My felt was removed by the previous owner over 4 years ago, the underside of the bonnet has been finnished off with a matt black paint. The external paints fine, no sign of heat damage at all.
If your felt is in the way and dropping down then I would have thought it'd be better off removed (IMHO).
