S3 cracked bonnet

I am not sure if this is common, but my S3 has a short crack (approx 1" long)in the bonnet both sides.

The cracks start at the 3rd vent and run up into the wing.

It looks as if this has been repaired before, and potholes in the road appear to be making this worse (I have stiffer springs & adjustable shocks). I could soften the shocks, but really want to.

The bonnet looks as if there is a transition from stiffen to unstiffened near the cracks, has anyone found a good method of strengthening this area. My car is a solid colour, so nott too difficult to patch.

Hi Roger, I take it you have the non "air scoop" but side vented bonnet?

If so, I've not heard anyone else complain of this before.

Was it cracked when you bought the car?

I'm just wondering if it's cracking possibly in an area that a previous heavy-handed owner might have repeatedly closed the bonnet in the wrong place.

Or is the bonnet difficult to shut? it may be out of alignment and due to this takes more pressure to close and may then cause the cracking.
