Stonechip repairs
Discussion
My Feb.1990 S2 is a metallic maroon/burgundy/claret colour.
Perhaps this is described as Mica Red? Anyway, it is a bit stonechipped around the front. I'm uncertain what to use to touch them in. Previous owner(s) have bodged it a bit where tried, noething serious. Any ideas what touch in colour to use and where I might get some please?

Ayce systems do excelent stone chip kits for around £30 and include OTR (old touch up remover) to get rid of unnsuccessful previous attempts. I have bought a kit for my last three cars and have always had an excellent paint match. Dont know their number but look on google for Ayce systems and it will come up. Andy

There is a lazy way of doing it if you're interested.
Halfords sell a stone chip touch up kit for £5 - £10's. It is basically a wax crayon/lipstick type applicator that you rub onto the chips and then simply wipe off the residue, and that's it!
It's particularly good for disguising tiny hairline cracks in the glass fibre and is good for 20 washes. I've used it on my mica blue S3 and has made a great difference.
Just pick the colour that most suits your car, there are plenty of different shades. But if you want a permanent solution then it needs to be a paint job/touch up with a steady hand.
