Has anyone converted the rear drums of an S1 to discs. If so how and which? Any lessons learned? Was the benefit worth the effort?

Tower View. First go and find a V6 Sierra with rear discs...

Probably not that essential as the fronts do must of the work unless you are planning that Cosworth 24 valve turbo nutter conversion in which case the costs become insignificant... compared to everything else.

Not quite as easy as finding a V6 Sierra, there is a lot of machining to be done for a start.New seal kits from Ford are £65 plus vat per side with new calipers weighing in at £250 plus vat each! so parts for one are expensive. There are also a few options with the conversion including different bearings available. This conversion took me quite a while and a lot of homework went into the project too.My car is on the road with the conversion and it works perfectly, would I do it to an S1?, well probably yes as I do not like drum brakes but you will be looking at quite a bit of money (email me for prices), it just so happens though that I have just bought an ex Cosworth development 24V quad cam V6..................
