Evening all,
I'd appreciate your help on the questions below:
1 Should there be play in the drive shaft CV joints and if so how much.
2 What's the best way to remove new powder coating of the threaded fixing points on the chassis and will I have tap the other fixings, seat belts, etc.
Cheers
Nigel

Nigel yes you will, either with taps and dies or you could use sacrificial nuts and sacrificial bolts
Use a file to cut a groove along the thread to create a cutting edge to clean the thread
Hope this makes sense ?

Hi Nigel,
In answer to Q1:
There should be plenty of free play in the CV joints axiially, that is in & out along the line of the shaft, but NO play when you rotate the hubs backwards & forwards. If you can feel any movement between the driveshaft and the CV joint either end when doing this with the wheel off the ground, then the CV is worn & needs replacing.
NB. Make sure the car is properly supported on axle stands before going underneath.
