Got off my bike after a reasonable length ride on Monday and my left Achilles was sore. When I got out of bed on Tuesday morning I could hardly stand/walk. Since then it has improved slightly but still very painful when pressing the clutch in my VW Golf, can only imagine how it would feel on the TVR clutch...

Been for some physio and have it strapped up and elevated at the moment.

Just what I didn't need when I should be upping the training for the Pyrenees in July and 1 week before Eurotripping frownfrownfrownfrown

To the members of the GTS,
I might not be robbing banks on this tour and may be forced to travel at a more sedate pace. The average age of your group might be a bit lower this year wink

Ouch, very painful. I pulled mine years ago doing a climb on my bike...... that ended up with a phone call to my Dad for a ride home (pre mobile phones so I had to walk to find a call box!!)

You have my sympathy

Feel for you Ian.
Hope you can work it of before the trip.

I had shocking pains lifting my arm up to get my hand in my back pocket
handing over the cash for my little adventure yesterday.

Oh no!
Bad news Longers frown
And very poor timing, that's not like you at all.

You may just have enough time left to fit an auto box, a pipe rack & a slipper storage cabinet.

Failing that, perhaps you could depress the clutch with your walking stick?

Or delegate the driving duties....... that would be ideal after the stop at Chimay beerbeer
See, every cloud has a darker side biggrin

You are most welcome to join us happy GTS band of brothers.
Are you sure you can handle the Ovomaltine?
You don't have to worry about moaning about the French, Joe handles all of that for us . wink But you will have to shout at your own satnav.

Hope you have a miraculous speedy recovery and are soon back to peak form.

Chin up old boy. smile

Luckily it's not that bad, I haven't torn or pulled it badly only strained it a bit. I don't want to think about how painful a tear might be...! eek

Thanks matey.
Car needs a clean and the petrol tank is empty.
Grass will need cutting before we depart as well.
If I think of anything else I'll let you know wink

frown nightmare Ian!

I have a couple of suggestions:

1) MrPlow garage, based on previous efforts, might be able to fit you an auto box?!
2) MG midget clutch is much lighter, plus only 4 gears so less changes, if you want to swap just let me know... biggrin
3) GTS is the place to be for the yougens this year anyway. Bring your pipe and brace for stories about the war wink

Fingers crossed for a quick recovery. Your body should react well to physio considering your fitness levels at the moment!

Have you tried flea-bay? I bet phillpot could search and find a new achillies for you.

Seriously, hope you're fighting fit for the tour - you could try anaesthetic beer each night to get you through the days?

See you Thursday buddy

sorry to hear it Longers...that bikes for you!

I ripped mine a couple of years ago due to riding a bike....Had a long bike ride for the first time in years, and the next day I was playing football and when running for a magnificent goal I heard a ripping noise... weeping ...thought it was my sock...but it wasn't...the pain followed later...

..this has never happened due to driving a TVR....

If you middle aged men will go around riding bikes and kicking footballs as if you're still 21 what do you expect!

Joking aside, hope it's not too bad Ian and you are still able to fully enjoy the tour smile

Now I know this will sound stupid but……….When I injured my achilles a couple of years ago I found rolling a tennis ball under the arch of my foot worked where all the other treatments failed. If things improve a bit, press down more firmly as you roll the ball back and forth. I promise you it worked for me. Good luck thumbup

I do hope that you will feel a little better next week. I have a dodgy left knee and it is quite an effort to push down the clutch. However it is more of a problem in traffic holding down the pedal so I tend to knock J-LLO out of gear in these situations. As you say, if you join the GTS the average age may reduce although with Niiige as my wingman this has come down already. Everybody becomes GTS sooner or later.......
