S3c , garaged and conected to Acumate during hibernation , always fires up first pop but not this time, new battery last year , fuel pump
Primes but very reluctant to turn over when it does fires immediately , went for a run , but when I came back same problem .

Where should I start ?

If it's slow to turn over check battery terminals and engine/chassis earth connections are clean and tight. Also check the heavy cable to the starter is tight. Also get battery checked, it may be faulty.

Agree with OP, likely to be poor earth, don't just check the obvious ones, check those between the engine and chassis and gearbox and chassis too and also don't assume if they look good they are, clean at both ends and if you have a spare jump each out in turn. Starter motor connections same thing applies.

Thanks both (and for replying to non headed post ! ) I think that the earthing or starter motor connections are the problem , the battery and connections are good . Will get under it .
