Alas, my dream of getting my S on this years Eurotour has taken a big bashing today. Unfortunately, due to the excessive amount of work I took on with the chassis repair and then the level to which I wanted to get the car sorted, I've missed my slot with Dave the Trimmer and he won't be able to get it all sorted this side of July. The interior was in such a water damaged state, I really didn't have a lot of choice other than remove the lot and get it totally re-trimmed. The seat bases were shot and the dash, etc. was all ruined. I could get the car mobile by installing a couple of seats, leave the carpet and just re-fix a makeshift dash but I'm not sure I'd enjoy driving it like that.. On the upside of all this, I can now finish it exactly how I want and get it totally resprayed as the paint is in need of attention. This was what I wanted to do before getting it trimmed but knew I was always up against time. I just wish I'd have started it a bit earlier, but then again hindsight is the most accurate science..
Leaves me with a bit of a dilemma. I'd still like to join everyone on the Eurotour, but without a TVR would I be a bit of a burden? I'm lucky enough to have a couple of vehicles I could use but need to check if I'd be welcome or not. I totally enjoyed last years tour and was so looking forward to taking the S out to Europe with you chaps so to say I'm a bit depressed is an understatement! I've worked like hell to get it where it is now but to fall just short is a blow..

We had a TR4A in 2012. Come along it would be a shame to miss out on a great event such as the Eurotour. If anything were to happen to my S, I would pitch up in the daily driver, for me it is the people that make these tours what they are, not just the car. I'm sure you would enjoy spending a long weekend talking about S's.

Just stick a couple of old chairs from a knackered Chim in it for the Eurotour. You don't need door cards or a roof. As long as it's mobile, that's all you need.

Or you could bring the A35 ( another Austin? wink ) or the Integrale cloud9

Or you could come along as a co-driver with one of us solo pilots.

Or you could buy a temporary S from eBay & flog it when you get back.

Or you could find another Dave the Trimmer, they are quite plentiful. One with a sense of urgency.

Wotevva, you're still gonna come on this trip.

Wow!
See Terry, that's what it is all about, the people on here are second to none. One way or another you must come on the tour, no matter what the vehicle.

It's nothing less than I'd expect from any of you lot on here.

I'm sure we'd all do the same for a free beer beer

However, it's just taken our Eurotour spares supply scheme to a whole new level bow I hereby nominate Phillpot for Top S Bloke of the Year Award.

Mike, would you letTerry borrow it for about 10 weeks afterwards as well, so he do a few jobs on it? wink

...there you go Tel...its a win-win scenario...

Either stick your rough seats in tour S, and shake down the rest of the car...they cant be much worse than my "good" seats...

or...bring the Lancia and come just for the craic...we don't mind as long as we can all have a go...

or...take up Mikes excellent offer..and have fun in an S, with yours to look forward to later...

...see you in June wink

Tel, you must go ! I`ve done a few S club heaven meets and they are great, but this type of tour is something special. I went on the 2012 tour and it was simply outstanding, the cars, the people, the roads, the track and of course the breakdown wink The offer of another S for you is a wonderful gesture clap Don`t miss out on this superb trip, GO man GO !!!!!!.

Steve, I think Terry knows what Longers S Club tours are like, he came with us to the Alps last year in this very nice S1, seen in the St. Dizier hotel car park in the evening sunshine on the way back home........

I think he only sold it because of the colour wink

I can't fully respond to this at the mo as I'm currently driving to Leeds, plus I'm pretty bloody overwhelmed to be honest..
Mike, what an offer! I'd be more than willing to get her through an mot, tax, insure, etc. I've got a transporter if it needs moving. Lots of spares as well now...!
Still in shock.. smile

If it gets it running and MOT'd it helps me out as much as you!

.... and when I sell it this wouldn't sound bad in the ad. "recently completed several hundred faultless miles on a Eurotour" wink

If you're sure Mike.. What a top bloke - 'every cloud' as they say....
I'll pm later and see what we can do. I'm more than happy to get her running, just hope there's no small holes in the trailing arm brackets that need welding....!!!!

Hi Mike. I'm meeting a guy near Derby at around 5.30 to collect a part for another car (what a surprise) and I could then press on to yours. Would be there around 7-7.30 I'd imagine. Any good?
