Bonnet conundrum...
Discussion
I was sorting the insurance on my S3c today, and it all got a bit complicated as I had to explain that the car I currently have is a TVR S but not the TVR S that I had last year. It got confusing because I'd transferred the reg over and the lovely lady on the other end of the phone couldn't differentiate between the different S models. Anyway, it got sorted and I'm all insured (although the car's not going very far at the mo).. To complicate matters more, as I was on the phone being transferred around, I was looking through all the old paperwork I got with the car last year and found some old photos. I noticed that in one of the photos my car is fitted with the S4 bonnet (but doesn't now), and I mentioned this to the insurance lady. She immediately stated that this must be a modification and should be recorded with them as such. I explained that it was possibly not a modification but a 'olderfication' but she didn't see the funny side - yawn...
However, it now begs the question - does anyone know this car at all? I can only assume that the bonnet was changed due to damage of some kind during the cars history, although there are no signs of chassis damage at the front. Be interesting to find out why it was changed though..

The last scanned photos show 17/02/07 at the top right so I'd assume the bonnet was changed before then...

If it is anything like mine,I wouldnt worry. Mine apparently suffered minor OSF damage some years before I got it. I found one bonnet mounting slightly twisted and the lower wishbone had been changed. There is some documentation which hints that a new bonnet was supplied by TVR and that the only thing they had available at the time was a V8 bonnet! So my S1 is the only one (or at least the only one the club know of) with a V8 bonnet! My insurers (Peter James) didnt have an issue with it, neither did previous insurers. I like the confusion it causes!!!
I'm sure that I went to view that car in Swindon a few years ago when I was looking for mine but I thought it needed too much work doing to it. (seeing what you've done to it Terry, I was right!!)
It had been on the classifieds on here about a year before (2009??) being sold by a bloke in Maida Vale who had spent about five grand on it so it may have been him that changed the bonnet? I remember it taking ages to get hold of him and when I did it was very difficult to get any info out of him so I did'nt go and see it on that occasion. It ended up on ebay and was sold to the guy in Swindon who did'nt keep it long.
If you have any paperwork with a Maida vale address on it could be worth contacting him?
None of which answers your question but could point you in the right direction!
