done this recently with mine although i rubbed it down to a metal finish, the clock was brass and the speedo&rev were steel.sounds odd but it looks good(imo). if you want to remove them they are attached to a second plate behind the dash with ] shaped brackets.this plate is then held onto the dash with four nuts.may not be the same with all cars but the holes in the dash panel were smaller in diameter than the clocks so you can only remove them back the way.access to these bolts will be very tight but dropping the steering column may let you get your hands in(and a small 10mm ring spanner!)if you can't get to them like this then its dash panel out-not an easy job, took me about three hours to do this and wasnt helped by the nice man at tvr who cut the holes in the grp too small to simply pull the dash straight out.the six retaining bolts were also captive nuts(someone was really having a laugh!)so you could'nt just spin them off. good luck!!

Justin,

Speedy Cables do stainless / Silver rings if your interested. Shnozz has them on his S as does LeeBee. There are some pics under 'Shnozz's New Motor' thread.

Cheers,
JSG.

Think I might just tidy them up in situ for now and when funds permit will get the shiny silver ones.
