I had them on my cosworth and hated them.

Hardly work at all when cold and hard to keep up to temp on road. Ok when up to temp but wouldn't want to do sudden emergency stop.

Went back to ferrodo iirc.

That said the cosworth had 280mm brakes but was also heavier @ 1300kg

I tried them and only once never again, as said above very temp sensitive and then broke up with big lumps of the friction material falling off the pads. Moved to Pagid RS14's they are sublime.

Thanks Damian
The pads on the car now
seem very hard no wear at all after being on for about a year now, so would like to change them for something better.

Best compounds I've used (on my old scoob's) were mintex 1144 and ferodo DS2000. When I need new pads I'll be going for one of them, probably the ferodo as I found the mintex to be very dusty.

Both were effective at low temp but didn't fade when warmer.

Another vote for Ferodo Performance DS2500, excellent when cold , getting better when (very) hot ;-)

You need type : FCP206H

For the more "budget conscious" these Black Diamond pads get some good reviews (and I'm happy with them) wink

Mintex 1155 on mine but then I use it for trackdays and autotests. I had redstuff in briefly when I fitted the 260mm discs and xr4 calipers, didn't get on with them at all as they were useless when cold (annoying on the road, a waste of time on an autotest if the only time the brakes actually work is into the stop box at the end of the run).

in terms of road/autotest/sprint/track day I'd go ds2500/m1144/m1155/ds3000 smile
That's purely from a friction/temperature point of view though, sane people would probably care about wear rates and cost and probably dust too. The dust off the mintex pads mostly seemed to be the disc so it's horrible stuff that goes rusty.

EBC Green Stuff on mine. Seem more than adequate for fast road use, but they haven't been given a really hard workout such as mountain passes or track days. Not many of the former down here in the south east frown They seem to give good performance when cold too which is a bonus.

The true test for me is the hot fade aspect - don't think we need to go balls out with such a hard compound that they're useless when cold as the kerb weight aspect and friction/fade shouldn't be an issue with these cars to require it (balls out hard that is eek ooh, more tea vicar??!!)

The standard pads were spec’d to stop an XR4i and other large heavy Fords so top quality replacements with an “everyday” compound should be more than man enough for a little ‘S’. Is it wise to risk everyday safety for the perceived advantages of harder pads which might only come into their own a few days a year on mountain passes? Don’t forget, the harder your pads bite the more grippy your tyres need to be or they will just lock up.

Hi Joe
My brother has got them on his Chim and they are fine on the road and when cold,
so fingers crossed they should be ok on the S
