Bear in mind, if you change the colour of your car it will undobtedly be worth less and you may even have trouble selling it in future.

Last time I saw that number it was on a dark blue V8S - but for all I know it's been transferred by now.

So you don't know what the colour is but you want to get your car sprayed to match? Interesting logic!

Mate, I like the colour that you're on about as well. Bear in mind that cars are very photogenic and with various lighting conditions and all that it can flatter the colour.

It could be plain old mica blue that tvr do but highly polished....K40 is a knockout motor!! I saw a Porsche Boxter in a similar colour though, which would look superb on an 's'. Ocean blue metallic, I think. Nip down to a porsche dealer and have a look.

Jas, I would have to question your comment on resale.....part of the pre-sale preparation at a major tvr dealers is to respray at least the front end of the car to freshen it up. Obviously, the mark up is massive and the punter ends up footing the bill, but as long as the job is done well, I can't see potential buyers being put off unless they're after a minter.

Cheers, chin up.

The trouble with changing the paint colour, is that the V5 will need to be changed, and the vehicle id plate will have the wrong paint codes on it.
It would be interesting as a quick straw poll to put a thread up to see how many 'S' owners would have bought their cars if they were originally different colours. Personally, I wouldn't have. If my Red S2 was originally blue for example, I would have waited until an original red one came up.

i have to agree with you chin up.the car is 11 years old now and needs some tlc. im takin the car off the road for 6 months. ive purchased leebee,s old front end as mine is badly cracked and a full leather retrim is also on the cards.the car is black anyway and i would only change the colour if i found the right one. i dont think to many people would be botherd by the colour change if it was a good respray but would be put off by the original colour in bad condition. i think the pro,s outway the cons.

Jas, I see what you mean, now. Sorry mate, I thought you were talking about a same colour respray causing doubts in buyers minds. Yeah, if the colour was changed on the cheap, and door shuts and engine bay were bodged then definitely that could put people off.

If the job is done well, then I doubt if most people would mind though.......

Cheers.

I'm with Jas on this one, I would always keep a car the original colour (unless it was a naff colour and very very cheap), but then I guess if I could pick up a Tuscan racer cheap I'd wouldn't care how many colours it had been.

It wasn’t Tinks’ car - reg is close but not the same.

Same colour though - Starfire Mica Blue!

What a resurrection I missed it first time round, I was a newbie in 2002.

K40 VBS is my car whereas Tinks was K400 VBS.

Mine’s Starfire Mica Blue, both cars are similar blues but are not the same.

I think my one is the only RHD V8s in black. Unless anyone can think of any others. I’ve not seen any others out and about or on here that I can recall.

Had my S3 repainted several years ago from Moonraker black to Alfa Romero Etna black. Obviously the paint code is longer exactly consistent with the body colour, but did mean I didn't have to inform the DVLA of a change of colour, 'cos it's still black. Looks a coppery bronze in bright sunshine though. Been told by several people in the know that not altering the paint colour TOO much should still be OK if it's sold on. Don't intent to sell anyway.
