Swirl Pots

I know that there is loads of experience in the forum faithfuls, but does anyone know where from and how much a new/refurbished swirl pot can be obtained for. The neck of mind is showing signs of old age and rather than try to re-braze I'll replace. Considering Stainless but cost will determine.

Yes that is a 2.8 S1, won't fit a S3 2.9,

You would think a ss swirlpot should use a ss neck. My suggestion for manufacturers.

TG TVR thanks for the link - will seriously think at having a go with SS neck rather than re-brazing the original when time permits.

For what it's worth, I have just bought a brass one from Europaspares and plan to solder it on, they do not need to be brazed on. Too much heat and distortion. Radiators are constructed using solder anyway.

Depends if tank is mild steel or stainless

Well yes, obviously, but I thought that I had answered a question about a standard replacement. If you go for stainless I would expect a stainless neck really. It doesn't make sense not to on a stainless tank.

I suppose you pays your money etc !

Thread resurrection but who are MI?

I am thinking of getting a SS swirl pot and have seen some advertised with brass necks, I would have concerns about a brass neck neck to be about as hard wearing as chocolate; are there any suppliers that produce these things totally in stainless?

Brass was the "norm" for many many years (and thousands of radiators) before all these new fangled alluminium and stainless things came along

This gets around having the brazed on brass neck which seems to cause problems for some. Works for me.

Ignore the other thing; that wa just an idea from a while back for mounting the swirl and expansion tanks side by side which I think Phillpot has now done. I just don't know where he gets all his great ideas from
