That Insurance Time of Year Again

Big surprise this year, I have been with Footman James this last year at £175 for the TVR, renewal came through £246 !!!
So checked out this thread and found RH as recommended by several people.
Spoke to Jason @ RH who went through all the info and explained the breakdown cover, legal cover, non competative rally and show cover, limited mileage windscreen and european use for just £115.44
Over £130 cheaper for more cover. I feel I must share this with you guys, I am not connected in any way with the company just a happy customer.

Footman James did the very same thing to me a few years back, which I why I wont go back. Bought in the business then racked it up following year.

Yes, always shop around! My renewal quote had also gone up. I am now insured with Equity Red Star arranged via Peter James Insurance (link at top of S facts) at £110 less, and again slightly better cover, including breakdown cover, and a lower excess. They had a good presence at the Goodwood Revival and seemed very knowledgeable about the classic car market.

Have always gone with Footman James or similar for the S - but having insured my daily Mk5 Golf GTI with Admiral for 2 years have successively added other family cars to make it a multi-car policy. They weren't "spooked" at covering a specialist vehicle and similarly were cool about insuring my 3 sons, all under 25.

Final outcome - £1400 annually for the S, my GTI 230 and the sons' 2.0 Golf GTI, 1.6 Golf SE and Saxo 1.1. I reckon the 22 yr old with the GTI would have cost a Grand with most companies so I'm pretty chuffed...so if you've got a few cars to insure give them a go.

Just renewed mine with Towergate through local broker- hasn't increased in last 3 years: still £185

Checked out my annual mileage as the MOT comes round and thought it a good idea to increase my limited miles allowance to 5000, this cost the amazing sum of £11 extra, so £126 all in for me this year with RH.

Every year I renew, every year I read the insurance threads, every year I get nowhere near these figures.

I'm an old git, garaged car, safe(ish) area, boring nondescript low risk job, no claims and I have a devils own job to keep it sub £200 :-o

It must be your postcode Scoobi,I have a rural postcode a low risk job and over 50, I would have accepted £170, same as last year but guys on here recommended RH, and the rest is history.

Bit of a food chain there, as Towergate are a broker too - so will be underwritten by someone else!!
