Tools and spares for the odd trip

Well I pick up my new car tommorrow, I'm no mechanic but I am planning to pack a small tool kit and maybe some fuses etc
Any advice on a few bits that would get me out of trouble would be appreciated

Hi Colin,
It's a choice between this.... ( stand on your head & look at the third pic )
and this.....

I would recommend that you always take your spare & jack & brace with you wherever you go, do not be tempted to rely on those aerosol puncture spray cans.
Spare bulb set, a selection of fuses, spare fuel pump relay, a few basic hand tools, Steve Heath Bible, a roll of self-amalgamating tape, maybe a coil of electrc cable + a couple of choc-block connectors and the phone number of your breakdown cover. ( Not that you'll ever need it. )
Oh, and maybe a container of coolant.
You may also care to consider my mod for passenger comfort.:..
The most important thing is that you enjoy your S.

I'd start with some:
small sockets (e.g. 7mm to 13mm) - the smaller ones are useful for tighten clips on coolant hoses
small spanners (e.g. 7mm to 13mm - in my case these are useful for fiddling with the adjustable fuel pressure regulator
fault code reader
some electrical connectors
wire strippers, pliers, fine emery paper, WD40 (most of the issues with my car have been electrical)
5mm allen key - useful for adjusting AFMs
Spare wheel, jack
old/spare alternator belt + tools to fit
Bulb kit is a requirement in some foreign countries

For "day to day" use I carry this little lot excluding the fuel pump, diz cap and leads ( they were added for the Eurotour).

All fits in the tool bag on the left, bag on right has First Aid kit, rain-x, tyre repair stuff and general cloths, hand cleaner etc.
