Sticky Throttel

All ok until I put my foot well down and then - instant accelrating cruise control.......

ideas?

is this why some have straight throttle plates etc etc?

I had this problem, it was the floor mat acting as a catch for the throttle when I pushed it all the way down.

Hence why my mat is currently in a box in the garage somewhere!

Had the same as OP on a different car but sometimes it would also show as a lack of power as the mat stopped the pedal from going to the floor. However another possibility is the cable fraying inside the sheath. I'd suggest you stop the car, climb in the footwell and work the pedal by hand watching and feeling for smooth operation and catching on anything. If all appears well here then go into engine bay and get someone else to work the pedal as before while watching the mechanism for smooth operation as well

I had the mat/pedal problem, peaked out at ahem mph before i could pull the mat clear

It happened to me when I nipped round a bus in Southampton where West Quay shopping centre goes over a road and forms a tunnel. Hundred or so people turned to watch the red TVR roar past then coast up the road with the engine on the limiter. Not cool.

I was on the M4 and overtaking lorries, dipping the clutch seemed to be a bad idea at the time.

I dipped the clutch 1st but was worried about the risk of creating a cologne highway auto jumble - many revs! I have cleaned and lubbers everything. Another blast this morning to see if all is well!

Much sun! And yes, I can really spell throttle, but not lube!

I had similar problem- turned out to be heat shield under bonnet was catching in throttle, which in turn made a hole in the shield,which made it stock more, etc,etc.
Taped up tear/hole in shield & re-stapled the shield. The latter was a BIG mistake as I promptly stapled straight through & paint is now flaking off the bonnet. Got it glued down afterwards instead.
