I only wish I could claim it was mine

After 3 or so months that was a 2500rpm idle I gave up and took the car to a local man of the old school mechanic variety. Half a day and 100 tokens and he sorted it. A straight forward simple groom of the whole fuel injection and ignition system and no new parts needed.

I had done this myself following the car mechanics instructions but it is amazing what a thou here and a thou there + many years of "getting the feel" can do. Anyway I got sunshine, I got a good Idle, I got the roof down, I got Dartmoor and I got a the width of the Atlantic to show for some spirited cornering this afternoon.

Now a bit of tarting up to do and make use of the sponge and water.

You know what Mark? I was just writing my post on the "overheating" thread, and thinking to myself "10 years and 40,000 miles I've had my car, and so far, I've repaired it and maintained it myself (with help here and there from others, especially DB800), but could maybe do with a little tune-up session just to check it over".

This is also partly related to the fact that my OBD port doesn't work so I can't use my fault reader.

And at the same time, you post this. It's destiny, I tells ya.

There's a wee man near here who has been doing this for at least 40 years. Time for a call!

I too am at the stage where I realise that I can't do everything ~ let the others do their bit and I'll do mine.

First job for the local garage is to lift the engine on it's mounts a little ~ a job for which if I were paid 50p/hour would still be cheaper to pay the £40/hour (plus vat) or whatever they charge at the garage. It would take me ages (been there before) plus lost knuckle skin whilst they have all of the tools/lifting gear.

Second job is to find an "old hand" as you have and give it a "tip top" tune
