front splitter

I need to add a splitter to keep the front end down when going quickly

I obtained a 'spoiler' free and messed about to trial fit.




although I am unsure whether to fit or use a more descrete 1/3 train pipe as I've seen elsewhere and maybe a pair of winglets??

Yes but you would need to dig a big hole in the ground to get the bonnet open.

did realise the pivot point will need moving down and forward

The mx-5 guys used to fit Laguna splitters which were effective and to my mind looked really good, really subtle.

There was a thread a little while ago about changing the pivot point of the bonnet - classic Saab 900s have a really neat 2 stage hinge that brings the bonnet forward and then flips, meaning it goes nearly vertical allowing excellent access.

My old 7-Series BMW had the same arrangement.
I believe other Beemers did the same.
